The Abia State Environmental Protection Agency (ASEPA), in partnership with the Abia State Signage and Advertisement Agency (ABSAA), has joined forces with BEMSOFT in a major collaborative effort to modernize revenue collection in the state.

In a well-attended rally held in Aba, the agencies announced the commencement of revenue payments through digital channels allowing residents and businesses to remit fees using mobile phones, computers, and other electronic devices directly into the Abia State Treasury Single Account (TSA). This move is aimed at enhancing transparency, blocking leakages, and boosting the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).

The rally was graced by ASEPA’s General Manager, Mazi Ogbonnia Okereke, and the Deputy General Manager for Aba Zone, Elder Okezie Ezengwa, both of whom expressed satisfaction at the strong turnout and public engagement. They noted that the initiative marks a significant shift in how the state handles sanitation and advertisement-related fees.
It is noteworthy that ASEPA has not collected any revenue since the inception of the current administration led by Dr. Alex Chioma Otti. The new system, powered by BEMSOFT’s secure payment platform, is expected to ensure that all payments go directly to the state’s official account eliminating the risks associated with cash handling and unauthorized collections.

Residents were urged to fully cooperate by paying their sanitation and related fees only through the designated BEMSOFT channels, and never to individual accounts or via cash. This, the agencies emphasized, will not only improve service delivery but also contribute to the sustainable development of Abia State.
