Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), attributing his departure to the party’s unresolved leadership crisis at the national level.
Adeleke made the disclosure in a statement released on his Instagram page late Monday, confirming that he had formally submitted his resignation to party officials in Sagba Abogunde, Ward 2, Ede North Local Government, on November 4, 2025.
“Due to the ongoing crisis within the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party at the national level, I officially conveyed my resignation letter as a member to the party leadership in Sagba Abogunde, Ward 2, Ede North Local Government, on November 4, 2025,” he said.
He expressed appreciation to the party and its supporters for the platform it had given him over the years, noting his political rise from Senator of the Federal Republic to Governor of Osun State.
His exit comes amid earlier reports from the state chapter of the PDP suggesting that the governor might forgo seeking the party’s ticket for the 2026 governorship election unless the protracted internal disputes were resolved.
Party officials had expressed optimism that a resolution—one that would be recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) could influence Adeleke to remain within its fold.

The PDP leadership maintains that the governor’s decision could still be reversed if the ongoing disputes are settled and validated by INEC within the stipulated timeframe for the forthcoming Osun governorship election.
