Speaking during a Twitter Space conversation hosted by Parallel Facts on Sunday, Obi emphasized his commitment to Nigeria’s power rotation arrangement, saying any southern candidate in 2027 should be prepared to hand over by May 28, 2031.

Obi is part of a coalition involving political heavyweights such as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, ex-transport minister Rotimi Amaechi, and former Kaduna governor Nasir El-Rufai—reportedly aimed at unseating the APC and President Bola Tinubu in the next general elections.
He said if chosen as the coalition’s flagbearer, he would strictly uphold the zoning agreement that alternates presidential power between the North and South.

Highlighting his track record, Obi recalled enforcing zoning during his tenure as governor of Anambra State, despite the political backlash it attracted. “My character and integrity matter more than the position.

I’m not desperate to be president,” he said, adding that even within two years, he could bring “competency, capacity, and compassion” to governance.
