Paul Pogba is on the brink of returning to competitive action after serving a 19-month suspension for doping violations.
The former Manchester United and Juventus midfielder signed for Monaco last summer, following the Court of Arbitration for Sport’s decision to reduce his initial four-year ban to 19 months.
All eyes are now on Saturday’s fixture, where Pogba is expected to make his league debut for Rennes. The French star last featured in a competitive match in September 2023 during Juventus’ Serie A clash with Empoli.
Though he was cleared for selection on November 8 against Lens, an ankle injury forced a delay to his anticipated comeback.
Pogba’s suspension stemmed from an August 2023 doping test that detected dehydrated androsterone (DHEA). He has consistently denied any deliberate wrongdoing, insisting the banned substance entered his system through a supplement he unknowingly consumed.
