Abia State is set to host the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, on Friday, October 3, 2025, for the commissioning of several major road projects completed in Aba by Governor Alex Chioma Otti’s administration.
The visit is being described as a historic moment for the state, as it underscores the federal government’s recognition of the sweeping infrastructural reforms taking place under Governor Otti. It also signals a renewed spirit of partnership between Abuja and Umuahia in the drive for sustainable development.
Among the projects scheduled for commissioning are:
- Port Harcourt Road (a dual carriage road with three lanes on each side, complete with modern drainage)
- Ohanku Road
- Ndoki Road
- Ajiwe Street
- Umuatako Road
- Chief Nkoro Street and Spurs, Abayi, Aba
- Gabriel Nwosu Street
A standout feature of these projects is the integration of solar-powered street lighting, which has now become a standard for road infrastructure in Abia State. This initiative, officials say, reflects Governor Otti’s vision for modernization, public safety, and long-term sustainability.
To honour the President, a civic reception has been scheduled at the Aba Township Stadium, starting at 10:00 a.m.

The state government has extended an open invitation to residents, including members of the business community, town unions, youth, and women’s groups, urging them to come out en masse to welcome the President and witness what is being hailed as a new chapter in Abia’s infrastructural development.
