Washington, D.C. – U.S. President Donald Trump voiced optimism over ongoing efforts to end the war in Gaza, stating that negotiations are “going along very well” as he met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House on Monday.
In a surprise statement to reporters, Trump suggested that Hamas may be open to a ceasefire, saying, “They want to meet and they want to have that ceasefire.” His comments come despite the latest round of indirect talks between Israel and Hamas in Qatar ending without a breakthrough. Negotiators are expected to resume discussions later this week.
When asked by a journalist what was currently holding up a peace deal, Trump downplayed any obstacles. “I don’t think there is a hold-up,” he said. “I think things are going along very well.”

The leaders were also questioned about the possible relocation of Palestinians from Gaza. While no detailed plans were outlined, Trump claimed that neighboring countries are cooperating on the issue.
The meeting highlighted Washington’s ongoing role in seeking a resolution to the 21-month conflict, even as diplomatic efforts remain complex and progress elusive.
