The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has reduced the ex-gantry price of petrol by ₦100, bringing the cost of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) down to ₦1,075 per litre in its latest pricing adjustment.

According to the refinery’s updated pricing template released on March 10, 2026, the new petrol price represents a drop from the previous rate of ₦1,175 per litre charged at the refinery gantry.

The company also reduced the price of Automotive Gas Oil (diesel) to ₦1,430 per litre, marking a decrease of about ₦190 from the earlier price of ₦1,620 per litre.

Industry sources indicated that petrol supplied through coastal distribution channels will now cost about ₦1,050 per litre, reflecting slight additional charges related to maritime transportation.

The refinery clarified that the ex-gantry prices do not include regulatory fees and levies imposed by the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, meaning the final pump price at filling stations may vary depending on logistics and distribution costs.

Analysts say the price adjustment follows recent volatility in the global crude oil market and the evolving dynamics of Nigeria’s downstream petroleum sector, where local refining capacity is increasingly influencing domestic fuel prices.

The Dangote Group refinery, located in Lagos and regarded as the largest single-train refinery in the world, is expected to play a key role in reducing Nigeria’s dependence on imported fuel and stabilising supply in the domestic market.

Motorists and marketers are now watching closely to see whether the latest reduction at the refinery will translate into lower pump prices at filling stations across the country.
