The Executive Governor of Alex Chioma Otti is scheduled to visit Ohanku community for the official flag-off of a state-of-the-art General Hospital project aimed at improving healthcare delivery at the grassroots level. The ceremony, set for Thursday, 26th February 2025, has been described as a historic milestone expected to transform medical access and stimulate development across surrounding communities. The project reflects ongoing infrastructure investments designed to strengthen public services and enhance the quality of life for residents.
The invitation to welcome the governor was issued through the palace of the traditional ruler, King Apostle Dr. Chibuzor Gift Chinyere, on behalf of the people of the Ikwuorie Ancient Kingdom. Community stakeholders, including chiefs, women groups, youths, and residents, have been encouraged to attend in large numbers and appear in their respective uniforms. Participants are expected to assemble at the Primary School Junction before proceeding to the palace venue to receive the governor and his entourage.
To enable full civic participation, schools and markets within Ohanku will remain closed on the day of the event. Students have been directed to attend in their school uniforms, while traders and community members have been urged to join the welcoming ceremony. Organizers stated that the temporary closure demonstrates unity and collective appreciation for development efforts being brought to the community.
Community leaders have expressed optimism that the hospital project will attract economic growth, create employment opportunities, and improve healthcare access for rural residents. The event has also been framed as a celebration of progress and renewed hope, with expectations that the groundbreaking will mark the beginning of sustained development in Ohanku and neighboring areas. Residents have therefore been encouraged to participate peacefully as history is made on Thursday, 26th February 2025.
