Former African champions Enyimba FC recorded a convincing 2-0 victory over Plateau United in their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 30 clash in Aba.

After a tightly contested first half that ended goalless, Enyimba stepped up the pressure in the second half to secure the win.

Striker Paul Odey broke the deadlock in the 55th minute, giving the home side the lead. Just eight minutes later, Ufere Chinedu doubled the advantage in the 63rd minute, sealing all three points for the People’s Elephant.

The match had earlier seen drama in the first half when Plateau United’s goalkeeper was shown a red card in the 21st minute for handling the ball outside his penalty area. Despite the numerical advantage, Enyimba had to wait until the second half to capitalize on the opportunity.

Fans who thronged the stadium praised the club’s management for throwing the gates open, saying the decision helped galvanize support for the team during a crucial phase of the season.

With the victory, Enyimba climbed out of the relegation zone, moving to 15th position on the NPFL table with 36 points from 30 matches.

Supporters expressed hope that the momentum from the win, combined with the renewed fan engagement initiative, could help the Aba-based club stabilize its season and push further up the league standings.
