Two of Nigeria’s largest beverage manufacturers, Nigerian Breweries Plc and Guinness Nigeria Plc, have announced plans to increase the prices of some of their products as rising operational and input costs continue to pressure businesses across the country.

According to notices sent to distributors, the companies said the price adjustments will affect selected stock-keeping units (SKUs) within their product portfolios. The decision, they explained, was driven by the increasing cost of production and the broader economic challenges facing manufacturers in Nigeria.

In a letter to its distribution partners, Nigerian Breweries stated that the new prices would take effect from March 20, 2026, noting that the move was necessary to adapt to the evolving economic landscape and rising cost of doing business.

The company assured distributors that orders fully paid for and confirmed before the implementation date would still be delivered at the existing price structure.

Similarly, Guinness Nigeria Plc said it would also adjust prices across selected products beginning March 27, 2026, citing prevailing economic conditions that have significantly increased operational expenses.

Manufacturers in Nigeria have been grappling with soaring inflation, foreign-exchange volatility, high energy costs, and rising logistics expenses, factors that have forced many companies to review their pricing strategies in order to remain profitable.

Industry analysts say the planned increases by the two beverage giants reflect broader challenges within Nigeria’s manufacturing sector, where companies are increasingly passing rising production costs on to consumers.

The development is expected to impact retail prices of popular beverages across the country, potentially adding to the financial strain on consumers already facing a high cost of living.

Despite the adjustment, both companies reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining strong partnerships with distributors and ensuring consistent product supply across the market.
