Daniel Daga has been sentenced to six months in prison after a court found him guilty of engaging in a sexual act without consent, according to reports by National Concord

‎The decision involving the Molde FK midfielder was announced on Tuesday afternoon. The 19-year-old Nigerian footballer was also instructed to pay 10,000 Norwegian kroner to cover legal expenses, as reported by TV 2 Norway.

‎According to the report, the court’s ruling matched the sentence requested by the prosecution.

‎Daga’s legal representative, Astrid Bolstad, said the young player was very disappointed with the verdict and continues to insist that he is innocent.

‎Earlier in December, Molde confirmed that the midfielder would be temporarily removed from team training sessions and matches while the legal proceedings were ongoing.

‎Daga moved to Molde ahead of the 2025 season and played 15 matches for the club, scoring three goals. Before his transfer to Europe, he featured in the Nigeria Premier Football League with Enyimba after previous stints at FC One Rocket and Dakkada FC.

‎Internationally, he represented the Nigeria national under-20 football team and was the youngest member of Nigeria’s squad at the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup.

‎During the competition, he started every match for Nigeria until the team was knocked out in the quarter-finals by the South Korea national under-20 football team, earning praise for his impressive performances throughout the tournament.
