MINNA ROBBERY: ‘GOD PRESERVED ME,’ BANK CUSTOMER TESTIFIES IN CHURCH AFTER GUNFIGHT

A bank customer who survived a violent robbery in Minna, Niger State, has credited divine intervention for preserving his life during a gunfight with armed robbers, according to a testimony he delivered at a church service.

The incident, which was captured on CCTV and has gone viral online, unfolded last Friday when the man, identified as David Adebayo, had just withdrawn about ₦9 million from a bank in the state capital. Minutes after leaving the bank, he was confronted by two armed men who forced him from his vehicle and seized the cash.

In his testimony at Omega Fire Ministries International in Edo State on Sunday, Adebayo said he had been fasting and praying in tongues on the day of the attack. He told congregants that those spiritual practices gave him the strength to confront the robbers.

“I thank God as they were shooting; the bullets just scratched my body and my clothes, but I don’t know how God preserved me,” he said, according to the Peoples Gazette.

During the struggle, Adebayo said he managed to grab a rifle from one of the assailants, despite having no prior experience handling firearms. He claimed that he even fired at the robbers’ vehicle to prevent their escape, although the attackers ultimately fled with the money and his car.

The Niger State Police Command confirmed the armed robbery, noting that the robbers’ vehicle and a rifle were recovered at the scene.

The dramatic encounter and Adebayo’s subsequent testimony have captured public attention online, with many sharing and commenting on the viral footage of the gunfight.

Despite losing the money to the robbers, Adebayo expressed profound gratitude for surviving the ordeal with only minor injuries, a point he repeatedly attributed to what he described as divine preservation.

Security agencies continue to investigate the case and pursue leads related to the armed attackers.
