Manchester City defeated Arsenal 2-0 at Wembley Stadium on Sunday to win the 2026 Carabao Cup and end the Gunners’ hopes of a historic quadruple.
A second-half brace from Nico O’Reilly secured victory for Pep Guardiola’s side, as they claimed the first major trophy of the English football season.
After a closely contested first half, Manchester City stepped up the tempo after the break and were rewarded when O’Reilly capitalised on a goalkeeping error to head home the opener.
The 21-year-old doubled the lead just minutes later, again finding the net with a header to put the result beyond Arsenal’s reach.
Despite entering the final as favourites, Arsenal struggled to create clear-cut chances and were unable to break down a well-organised City side.
The defeat marks a significant setback for Mikel Arteta’s team, who had been chasing a rare quadruple this season but now see their ambitions cut short.

Manchester City’s triumph further underlines their domestic dominance under Guardiola, as they continue to add to their growing trophy haul.
For Arsenal, attention will now shift to their remaining competitions, including the Premier League and other domestic and European commitments, as they seek to salvage silverware from an otherwise promising campaign.
