The Lagos State Football Association (LSFA) extends its heartfelt congratulations to Sporting Lagos and Inter Lagos for their well-earned promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
”This is a significant milestone for football in Lagos. For the first time in many years, the state will be represented by dynamic, privately-operated clubs in Nigeria’s premier league, reintroducing elite football to the Centre of Excellence,” stated LSFA Chairman Hajji Gafar on Thursday evening.
”Sporting Lagos, known as the ‘Tech Boys,’ have successfully completed an impressive four-year journey from their establishment in 2022 to reaching the NPFL. Their ascent is a testament to a bold vision, data-driven management, and a fan culture that has transformed the matchday experience in Nigeria.”
”Inter Lagos, referred to as ‘The Pride of Lagos,’ have achieved similar success through discipline, structure, and strong community ties. Their promotion validates that the club’s approach to professionalism and youth integration is effective at the highest levels of competition.”
”The LSFA commends the players, coaches, support staff, and management of both clubs. Competing in the Nigeria National League requires consistency, dedication, and faith. Sporting Lagos and Inter Lagos exemplified all three throughout the 2025/26 season.
”In addition to their achievements, both clubs have elevated their standards beyond the field. From youth development programs to digital media, from ticket sales to community engagement, they have established a model for how contemporary Nigerian clubs ought to function. The quality of football in Lagos has improved as a result.
”These advancements restore Lagos to its deserved position in the NPFL. For supporters, this translates to local rivalries, heightened economic activity, and the opportunity to enjoy premier football at Mobolaji Johnson Arena and Onikan Stadium every weekend.
”We urge corporate entities, sponsors, and well-intentioned individuals to lend their support to both clubs as they advance. The transition to the NPFL entails greater financial, logistical, and infrastructural requirements. Ongoing success will necessitate collective support.
”To the fans, this victory belongs to you as well. The enthusiasm from the Tech Arena and the fervor from Inter Lagos’ “Pride Nation” propelled both teams to success. Maintain that spirit in the NPFL — fill the stadiums, uphold the brand, and wave the Lagos flag high.
”Sporting Lagos and Inter Lagos transcend being mere football clubs. They embody the innovation, resilience, and ambition of Lagos. You have carried the aspirations of the state and achieved remarkable success. You are truly the pride of Lagos. The entire football community stands with you as you embark on this new chapter in the NPFL, he concluded.
