Victor Osimhen

Victor Osimhen made a sensational return from injury by scoring as Galatasaray cruised to a commanding 3-0 victory over fierce rivals Fenerbahce in the Istanbul derby.

The Nigerian striker had recently recovered from injury and was cleared to feature in the high-stakes Turkish Super Lig clash, with all eyes on his comeback performance.

After a tense opening period, Osimhen broke the deadlock in the 40th minute, showing sharp instincts inside the box to guide the ball home and hand Galatasaray a deserved lead before halftime.

The goal energized the home side, who controlled much of the contest against their title rivals in front of a packed stadium atmosphere.

Galatasaray doubled their advantage in the second half through Baris Yilmaz from the penalty spot after a foul inside the area, while Lucas Torreira added a late third goal to seal an emphatic victory.

The result strengthened Galatasaray’s grip on the Turkish Super Lig title race, opening a significant gap over second-placed Fenerbahce with only a few matches remaining.

Osimhen’s impressive display also underlined his importance to the team, with the striker returning at a decisive moment of the season as Galatasaray chase another domestic crown.

For Fenerbahce, the heavy defeat dealt a major blow to their championship hopes in one of the biggest fixtures in Turkish football.
