The Abia State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has distanced itself from a publication circulating online regarding the alleged suspension of its State Chairman.
In a statement issued by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Chiamaka Ohaja, the ADC described the report titled “Re: Suspension of Abia State ADC Chairman” as unauthorized and misleading. She clarified that her office, which is solely responsible for the party’s official communications in the state, did not release the statement.

Ohaja further stressed that the Abia ADC, under the leadership of Don Norman Obinna, has no factions and is not aware of any State Working Committee chaired by Mazi Kanu O. Kanu, who was mentioned in the controversial publication. According to her, the purported suspension and announcement of an “acting chairman” have no legitimacy, as they lack the consent or approval of the National Executive Committee (NEC).
“For the avoidance of doubt, only the ADC National Working Committee (NWC), ratified by the NEC, is constitutionally empowered to suspend a State Chairman.” she explained
She urged party members and the general public to disregard the report, warning that those behind the misinformation would face disciplinary action in due course.

Ohaja also provided a contact number for all official inquiries, reassuring members that the Abia ADC remains committed to unity, the rule of law, and its vision for a prosperous Abia State.
