The Abia State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has declared its resolve to reclaim power from Governor Alex Otti and the Labour Party in the 2027 general elections. This strong position was taken during the Abia North PDP stakeholders’ meeting, where party leaders and members gathered to strategize ahead of the next political cycle.
Speaking at the meeting, the state PDP chairman, Elder Ama Abraham, emphasized that the party’s nomination for any elective position in 2027 will be based solely on popularity and grassroots support. According to him, gone are the days when unpopular candidates are imposed on the people. “Only aspirants with proven acceptance by the people will fly the party’s flag,” Ama stated.
Ama also issued a stern warning to any party member, no matter how highly placed, who may attempt to sabotage the party’s efforts to return to power in 2027. He urged such individuals to either fall in line with the party’s vision or take the honorable path and exit the PDP now. “We will not tolerate internal betrayal this time. There will be dire consequences,” he cautioned.

In a show of unity, former House of Representatives member, Hon. Uko Nkole, read a communiqué on behalf of the Abia North PDP, passing a vote of confidence on the Ama Abraham-led State Working Committee (SWC). The communiqué reaffirmed the zone’s commitment to work closely with the state leadership to ensure the PDP regains control of Abia State come 2027.
