The African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for Bende Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections, Nkem Ukandu has withdrawn from the House of Representatives race.

Nkem Ukandu, whose name appeared on the list of candidates recently published by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), announced the decision following what he described as extensive consultations with his family, associates, mentors and other respected individuals.

In a statement announcing his withdrawal, he said the decision was made after careful consideration and was the right one for him at this time.

Ukandu expressed appreciation to those who had supported his aspiration to represent the constituency, saying their encouragement and confidence in him remained deeply valued.

However, he stressed that stepping down from the contest should not be interpreted as abandoning Bende or his commitment to the welfare and development of its people.

According to him, he would, at the appropriate time, announce the candidate he would support in the 2027 election.

He said his choice would be guided by the candidate’s vision, character and commitment to the ideals he would have pursued if elected.

The former ADC candidate, Nkem Ukandu concluded by extending what he described as the party’s traditional “fraternal warm HANDSHAKE” to his supporters and thanked them for believing in his aspiration to serve.
