A group of political stakeholders has purchased the All Progressives Congress governorship nomination and expression of interest forms for Benjamin Kalu, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, ahead of the 2027 election in Abia State.
The forms were presented to Kalu in Abuja on Saturday, with members of the delegation urging him to formally join the governorship race, citing his performance and leadership at the national level.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Senior Advocate of Nigeria, James Uko-Kalu, described the Deputy Speaker as a unifying figure whose contributions in the National Assembly have translated into visible development.
According to him, Kalu’s track record since 2019 has inspired confidence among stakeholders and professionals, many of whom believe he possesses the capacity to replicate such leadership at the state level.

Another stakeholder, Uzo Azubuike, said the delegation represented a broad spectrum of the populace, conveying what he described as a widespread call for Kalu to contest the governorship.
He urged the Deputy Speaker to prioritise the ambition, describing it as a pathway to accelerated development in Abia State.
Responding, Kalu expressed appreciation for the gesture and the confidence reposed in him, stating that he would undertake wide consultations before making a final decision on whether to enter the race.
