Arsenal booked their place in the League Cup final after a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Chelsea in the semi-final second leg at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night. The victory, sealed in stoppage time by substitute Kai Havertz, saw the Gunners advance 4-2 on aggregate in what was a tense encounter between the two London rivals.

The match saw relatively few clear chances for either side during the regulation 90 minutes, with both teams defending resolutely and goalkeepers called upon only sparingly. As the clock ticked down, it appeared heading for extra time — until Havertz rounded the Chelsea goalkeeper deep into added time to slot home the decisive goal and send the home crowd into jubilant celebration.

The win marks Arsenal’s first appearance in the League Cup final in six years, offering manager Mikel Arteta another shot at silverware this season. The club’s last League Cup triumph came decades ago, and this result adds to an already impressive campaign as Arsenal also leads the Premier League and maintains strong prospects in the Champions League.

Chelsea, meanwhile, will rue missed opportunities and their inability to overturn the first-leg deficit at Stamford Bridge. Despite tactical changes and attacking substitutions by head coach Liam Rosenior, the Blues failed to break down Arsenal’s organised defence and fell short as the Gunners sealed their passage to Wembley.
