ABIA CENTRAL — The All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidate for Abia Central, Rt. Hon. Emeka Atuma, has pledged to run an issue-based campaign anchored on truth, dignity, transparency and responsible representation ahead of the forthcoming senatorial election.

Atuma, in a message to constituents as the campaign officially begins, said the contest should provide an opportunity for candidates and voters to engage constructively on the future of the senatorial district rather than descend into bitterness, misinformation and personal attacks.

He said his campaign would be driven by facts, verifiable records and a clear understanding of the constitutional responsibilities of a senator.

According to him, he would present his vision with sincerity while respecting the right of voters to make independent and informed choices, stressing that he would not rely on exaggerated promises or empty political rhetoric to seek their support.

Atuma identified human capital development, employment and economic opportunities, quality education, accessible healthcare, infrastructure, youth development, support for entrepreneurs and small businesses, technology and innovation as key areas of priority.

He said, if elected, he would leverage the opportunities available in the National Assembly to advocate for policies, projects and interventions capable of delivering sustainable development to Abia Central.

The APC candidate also promised to build constructive relationships with government agencies, development partners and other stakeholders in pursuit of initiatives that would improve the welfare and living standards of constituents.

He described legislative representation as a responsibility rather than a platform for personal advancement, pledging to remain accessible, consultative and accountable to the people.

“Effective representation requires listening to the people, understanding their needs and translating those needs into meaningful legislative and developmental action,” he said.

Atuma urged voters to make the election a choice based on competence, character, experience, vision and capacity to serve, rather than division and political rhetoric.

He also appealed to political leaders, youths, women, professionals, traditional institutions, community leaders and other stakeholders across Abia Central to support a campaign focused on ideas, issues and responsible political engagement.

He said the district could achieve sustainable development if communities and political leaders worked together to ensure that every community was heard and every citizen valued.

Atuma consequently appealed to the people of Abia Central to support his candidacy and entrust him with their mandate for what he described as a journey of “truth, service and responsible representation.”
