Media personality Daddy Freeze has stirred fresh conversations on social media after applauding popular content creator Peller’s upcoming wedding while appearing to compare his achievements with those of educated Nigerians.
In a viral video, Daddy Freeze said:
“Olodo Uprising! Olodo Uprising. Peller don first you marry in a grand style oh. He wanted to book private jet for ₦21 million but all private jets were fully booked. You wey go school, you never marry. You fit book private jet? He don first you marry oh.”
The remarks quickly generated mixed reactions online, with many praising Peller’s success story while others questioned the comparison between wealth, education, and personal achievement.
Among those who responded was technology entrepreneur and AI PhD candidate Charles Awuzie, who argued that measuring success primarily by displays of wealth discourages research, innovation, and long-term national development.
According to Awuzie, Nigeria’s culture often celebrates “sharp sharp” success while overlooking the patience, discipline, and years of research required to produce world-class innovations.
He revealed that as the founder of a decentralized science (DeSci) project, he has faced criticism for refusing to aggressively promote his platform for quick financial gains, insisting that groundbreaking technology should be built through research rather than hype.
Awuzie stressed that while he admires Peller’s achievements and entrepreneurial journey despite limited formal education, he believes public figures should avoid using such success stories to mock educated Nigerians.
He also argued that influence extends beyond social media popularity, saying leadership roles in technology, artificial intelligence, national security, and international institutions are earned through expertise and innovation rather than celebrity status.
Commenting on luxury spending, Awuzie criticized what he described as excessive costs associated with private jet travel in Nigeria, claiming many wealthy individuals overpay simply for status. He added that he sometimes chooses economy class over business class after carefully evaluating aircraft configurations, emphasizing value over appearances.
The tech entrepreneur concluded by encouraging students, researchers, and professionals currently undergoing training not to feel discouraged by the glamour displayed on social media.
According to him, intelligence, expertise, and meaningful contributions ultimately create lasting influence, even if they receive less public attention than wealth and celebrity lifestyles.
