Erondu Uchenna Erondu Jnr, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Abia South Senatorial District in the 2027 general election, has taken his battle over the party’s ticket to the Federal High Court in Abuja.
The development follows his earlier rejection of reports that his name had been substituted with that of Prince Paul Ikonne as the APC’s candidate for the senatorial district.
Erondu had insisted that he remains the duly elected candidate, having emerged from the party’s direct primary conducted on May 18, 2026, and subsequently upheld by the APC Appeal Committee. He also cited an Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Certified True Copy of the primary election report which, according to him, confirms his emergence.
Court documents sighted by National Concord show that Erondu Jnr instituted Suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/1803/2026 at the Federal High Court, Abuja Judicial Division, against the APC, INEC, Prince Paul Ikonne, Nyerere Chinenye Anyim and Hon. Dr. Blessing Nwagba.
The suit is before Justice M. G. Umar. In an order dated July 28, 2026, the court granted Erondu leave to serve the originating summons and accompanying processes on the third, fourth and fifth defendants by substituted means.
According to the court order, the documents are to be served by delivering them to a staff member or person at the APC National Secretariat at 40 Blantyre Street, Wuse 2, Abuja, or by affixing them at the entrance gate of the said address. The court further ordered that such service would be deemed good and sufficient service on the affected defendants. The matter was subsequently adjourned to September 9, 2026, for further proceedings.
The court action marks a new phase in the unfolding dispute over the APC’s Abia South senatorial ticket. Erondu had earlier maintained that his nomination could not lawfully be substituted because he had neither died nor voluntarily withdrawn from the race, while also insisting that no court order had removed him as the party’s candidate.
