Professor Mahmood Yakubu has officially handed over leadership of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to Mrs. May Agbamuche-Mbu, who will serve as the Acting National Chairman.
Agbamuche-Mbu, the longest-serving National Commissioner at the electoral body, assumes the role following Yakubu’s handover, which took place on Tuesday during a meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) at the INEC headquarters in Abuja.
In his remarks, Professor Yakubu called on the commissioners and directors of the commission to extend their full cooperation and support to Agbamuche-Mbu as she steers the affairs of the commission pending the appointment of a substantive chairman.
