The Federal High Court in Abuja has struck out the eight-count criminal charge filed by the Federal Government against Adeniyi Adeyemi, who is accused of posing as the Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC).

Justice Mohammed Garba Umar struck out the charge on Monday following an application by the prosecution to terminate the case and pursue fresh charges before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory.

The Director of Public Prosecutions of the Federation, Rotimi Oyedepo, SAN, told the court that the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice had reviewed the case file and identified issues with the original charges.

Oyedepo explained that the alleged forgery offences relating to documents purportedly used by Adeyemi while operating the agency fell within the jurisdiction of the FCT High Court rather than the Federal High Court.

He informed the court that fresh charges had been filed before the FCT High Court and that Adeyemi would be arraigned again.

The prosecution subsequently asked Justice Umar to strike out the existing charge, a request that was not opposed by Adeyemi’s counsel, Ibrahim Angulu, SAN.

The judge granted the application, bringing the proceedings before the Federal High Court to an end.

Adeyemi, 38, had been charged alongside two other defendants identified only as Femi and Anu, whose whereabouts were reportedly unknown. The eight-count charge, marked FHC/ABJ/CR/25/2025, included allegations bordering on conspiracy and forgery.

The case relates to allegations that Adeyemi falsely presented himself as the head of the PFIPC, an organisation the Presidency has disowned.

The Federal Government is now expected to pursue the case through the fresh charges filed before the FCT High Court.

The striking out of the original charge was a procedural development and did not amount to an acquittal on the allegations against Adeyemi.
