A former deputy governorship candidate Chima Anyaso has declared his intention to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The politician, who previously ran as a running mate in a state governorship race, said his decision to vie for a federal legislative position was driven by a desire to deepen grassroots representation and contribute more directly to national lawmaking.
Speaking during his declaration, he emphasized the need for responsive leadership and pledged to prioritise the welfare of constituents if elected.
He noted that his political experience at the state level had equipped him with the necessary insight into governance and public service, adding that the National Assembly offers a broader platform to influence policies that affect Nigerians.
The declaration comes amid increasing political activities and consultations across the country, as aspirants begin to position themselves for various elective offices ahead of 2027.
Observers say the early moves reflect intensifying competition for National Assembly seats, with many politicians seeking to leverage prior electoral experience to secure party tickets.
The aspirant also called on supporters to remain united and actively participate in the democratic process, stressing that credible representation remains key to national development.
With political permutations already underway, more declarations are expected in the coming months as parties prepare for primaries and coalition talks.
