Labour Party (LP) in Abia State has strongly disowned an earlier announcement welcoming Hon. Rowland Dennis, the Member representing Isialangwa South State Constituency, into the party.
In a disclaimer issued by the party’s leadership, LP clarified that Emmanuel Nwaeze Otti, who had purportedly received Dennis into the party, is neither the Acting State Chairman nor a member of the Labour Party.
The statement, released by the State Working Committee (SWC), emphasized that Otti’s appointment as Acting Chairman was terminated on October 10, 2024, before he and others joined the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).
The party also reaffirmed that Hon. Prince G.O. Ndubueze remains the recognized Acting State Chairman under the leadership of Barr. Julius Abure.
LP further accused Otti and his associates of attempting to mislead the public and create confusion within the party, especially following the emergence of Zenith Labour Party in Abia State.
The statement urged the public to disregard any claims made by Otti regarding Labour Party affairs.
Additionally, the party dismissed the existence of a “Media/Publicity Unit, Office of the State Party Chairman,” stating that Labour Party only has a designated Publicity Secretary from ward to national levels.

It warned that anyone writing under such a title is not a recognized member of the party.
The Labour Party reaffirmed its commitment to due process in admitting new members and cautioned against misinformation aimed at destabilizing the party in Abia State.
