William Osula

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has initiated contact with William Osula over a possible switch in international allegiance to represent the Super Eagles.

Osula, a striker with Newcastle United, is currently eligible to play for multiple countries, including Denmark, France, and Nigeria. The 22-year-old has previously represented Denmark at youth level but remains uncapped at senior level, leaving the door open for a potential nationality switch.

Born in Copenhagen to a Danish mother and a Nigerian-French father, Osula has emerged as one of the promising young forwards in European football. He was recently called up to the Danish senior squad for international fixtures but did not feature, a development that has strengthened Nigeria’s chances of securing his commitment.

Reports indicate that the NFF has already begun discussions through the player’s representatives as part of efforts to convince him to pledge his international future to Nigeria.

The move is seen as part of a broader strategy by Nigerian football authorities to recruit talented dual-nationality players across Europe, as the Super Eagles look to rebuild and strengthen their squad ahead of upcoming international competitions.

Osula’s growing profile in the Premier League, combined with his age and versatility in attack, makes him an attractive long-term option for Nigeria’s frontline as the team plans for future tournaments.
