Rangers technical adviser Fidelis Ilechukwu

The race for the Nigeria Premier Football League title remains far from decided, according to Fidelis Ilechukwu, who insists the championship battle will be settled only at the end of the season.

The Rangers International F.C. technical adviser spoke after his side returned to the top of the table despite being held to a goalless draw by Barau FC at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu.

The result allowed Rangers to reclaim first place, aided by a slip from rivals Rivers United F.C., who dropped to second after suffering a 2-0 defeat to Warri Wolves.

With just five matches remaining, Ilechukwu maintained that the title contest is still finely balanced and unpredictable.

“Five games to go, the league title is still open… you can never say what will happen,” he said, expressing confidence that the race would go down to the wire.

The coach emphasised the need for focus, noting that his team would approach the remaining fixtures one game at a time rather than succumb to pressure at the top of the table.

Rangers, one of Nigeria’s most storied clubs, now face a crucial run-in that includes challenging fixtures, as they seek to secure another league crown in a tightly contested season.

The latest developments underline the competitiveness of the Nigeria Premier Football League, where shifting results continue to reshape the standings and keep multiple contenders in the hunt for the title.
