Nigeria’s Super Eagles have been dealt a setback ahead of their international friendly against Jordan, with goalkeeper Maduka Okoye ruled out due to injury.
The Udinese shot-stopper sustained a thigh injury during training, forcing him to withdraw from the squad and leave the team’s camp in Turkey.
Okoye had featured in Nigeria’s previous outing a 2-1 victory over Iran but will now miss the clash against Jordan scheduled as part of the ongoing invitational tournament.
His absence adds to the team’s growing list of unavailable players, with injuries and personal commitments already affecting squad depth ahead of the encounter.
With Okoye ruled out, the responsibility in goal is expected to fall on Francis Uzoho and Adebayo Adeleye, who are now the remaining goalkeepers in camp.
The development is seen as a blow to the Super Eagles’ preparations, especially as the team continues to fine-tune tactics under coach Eric Chelle.
Nigeria will face Jordan in their final game of the tournament, with the coaching crew expected to adjust accordingly despite the injury setback.
