The House of Representatives Ad-Hoc Committee on Rivers State Oversight has summoned the state’s Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd.), to appear for a detailed interactive session tomorrow April 17, 2025. This follows concerns over developments in the state since his appointment.
The committee, inaugurated on April 15th by Speaker Abbas Tajudeen, held its first meeting the today and resolved to exercise its legislative oversight under Section 11(4) of the 1999 Constitution.
The chairman, Hon. Julius Ihonvbere, emphasized the need to clarify the situation in Rivers State and guide the House in its oversight duties.
A formal invitation has been sent and acknowledged, with the session scheduled for 4:00 PM at the National Assembly. The committee stressed its commitment to transparency, diligence, and constitutional compliance in the public interest.
