Manchester City defeated Chelsea FC 1-0 at Wembley Stadium to win the 2026 FA Cup final, thanks to a moment of brilliance from Antoine Semenyo.

The decisive goal came in the 72nd minute when Semenyo produced a superb improvised finish from an Erling Haaland delivery to finally break Chelsea’s disciplined resistance.

The victory secured Manchester City’s eighth FA Cup title and completed a domestic cup double for manager Pep Guardiola’s side after already winning the Carabao Cup earlier in the season.

The match itself was largely tense and tactical, with both sides struggling to create clear-cut chances for long periods at Wembley. Chelsea enjoyed improved spells in the second half but failed to convert their opportunities.

Guardiola’s substitutions eventually proved decisive, with the introduction of attacking reinforcements helping City regain momentum after Chelsea briefly threatened to seize control of the contest.

Semenyo’s goal instantly became the defining moment of the final, with pundits and fans praising the Ghanaian forward’s composure and improvisation under pressure.

For Chelsea, the defeat extended a worrying run of losses in major domestic finals. Reports described it as the club’s fourth consecutive FA Cup final defeat and another painful setback during a turbulent campaign.

The Blues, who entered the final hoping to rescue their season with silverware and secure European qualification, were once again left frustrated by missed chances and a lack of cutting edge in attack.

City captain Bernardo Silva and veteran defender John Stones lifted the trophy after the final whistle, adding another major honour to Guardiola’s highly successful era at the club.

The triumph also keeps alive Manchester City’s hopes of ending the season with multiple trophies as they continue their intense Premier League title battle with Arsenal FC.
