Italy’s Jannik Sinner and Germany’s Alexander Zverev advanced to the quarter-finals of the Paris Masters on Thursday with dominant straight-sets victories.
Sinner defeated Argentina’s Francisco Cerundolo 7-5, 6-1 to reach his first Paris quarter-final, where he will face American Ben Shelton. A maiden title in Paris would see Sinner reclaim the world number one spot after Carlos Alcaraz’s shock exit to Britain’s Cameron Norrie.
Defending champion Zverev eased past Spain’s Alejandro Davidovich Fokina 6-2, 6-4 and will next face Daniil Medvedev, who came through a tough three-set battle against Italy’s Lorenzo Sonego.
Elsewhere, Alexander Bublik stunned fourth seed Taylor Fritz to set up a clash with Alex de Minaur, while Felix Auger-Aliassime continued his comeback form, beating Daniel Altmaier to stay in contention for an ATP Finals berth.
With Sinner chasing the top ranking and Zverev defending his crown, the Paris Masters quarter-finals promise a thrilling showdown of tennis heavyweights.
