Tyson Fury made a successful return to the heavyweight scene with a controlled points victory over Arslanbek Makhmudov at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, before immediately calling out long-time rival Anthony Joshua.
The 37-year-old Briton, coming out of retirement after 15 months, was not at his explosive best but displayed superior ring IQ and technical ability to dominate Makhmudov over 12 largely one-sided rounds. Despite needing to stay alert to occasional overhand rights from the Russian, Fury remained in control as Makhmudov struggled to vary his approach.
Fury secured a convincing unanimous decision, with judges scoring the bout 120-108, 120-108, and 119-109 in his favour.
However, the drama intensified even before the official result was announced. Fury turned his attention ringside, inviting Joshua into the ring — an invitation that was declined.

“I challenge you, Anthony Joshua, to fight me next. Do you accept?” Fury said after more attempts to get Joshua into the ring failed.
Joshua, who had been watching from ringside and recording parts of the fight on his phone, initially appeared hesitant before responding:
“I punched you up when we were kids and I’ll punch you up again.
“You aren’t going to tell me what to do, I’ve been chasing you for 10 years.
“I’m the boss, you work for me. I’m the landlord. You work for me.”
Fury fired back with a bold warning:
“You [Anthony Joshua] are next. You are getting knocked out. Believe it.”
A fight long desired during both fighters’ primes has remained one of boxing’s biggest unanswered questions, but this latest exchange suggests it could finally happen.
The victory marks Fury’s return following back-to-back defeats to unified champion Oleksandr Usyk in 2024, improving his record to 35 wins, two losses, and one draw. For Makhmudov, now 36, the defeat represents his third loss in 24 professional fights.
