His Royal Majesty, Eze Sir Dandy PA Ogalabu, Ugo 1 of Apu Na Ekpu Kingdom in Isiala Ngwa North, has respectfully appealed to the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, to intervene in an unresolved matter involving his properties and the State Ministry of Works.
The appeal follows the ongoing dualization of the Umuikaa Road, a critical project aimed at improving one of the state’s busiest and most strategic routes, connecting the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway to Obikabia Roundabout in Ogbor Hill.

As part of the road expansion, the Ministry of Works issued notices to affected property owners, reportedly giving them only seven days to vacate. Among the affected structures are a fuel station located at Umuikaa Junction and a two-storey building belonging to His Royal Majesty Eze Sir Dandy PA Ogalabu, Ugo 1 of Apu Na Ekpu Kingdom

Challenging the timeline and the lack of proper engagement, the royal father sought legal clarification on whether the short notice and no due compensation complied with the constitutional provisions regarding property rights. To date, the legal matter remains unresolved.

In addition to the short notice, His Majesty expressed concern that no formal process of valuation, negotiation, or compensation was undertaken prior to the demolition notices. While Governor Otti recently announced during a visit to the project site that all affected property owners have been compensated, Eze Dandi Peter maintains that he has not received any such compensation or closure on his case.

“I am not against the government. I believe in the Governor and his vision, But I also believe that some of those entrusted with executing these duties may not be acting with full transparency and fairness.” Eze Dandi Peter stated.

According to him, the Attorney General of the state previously proposed an out-of-court settlement, and in good faith, he submitted all required property valuations and documents. However, he has received no response or update since then.

While his buildings remain standing, His Royal Majesty calls on Governor Otti to kindly intervene, so that the matter can be resolved in the spirit of fairness, justice, and the shared commitment to a better Abia.
