Ahead of the crucial final game of the 2026 Nationwide League One playoffs between Kogi United FC and Mailantarki Care FC, Super Eagles goalkeeper Ojo Olorunleke (MON) has announced a donation of ₦1,000,000 to Kogi United players if the team qualifies for the NNL on Tuesday, July 7.
Ọlọ́runlékè commended the team and its entire management crew for the wonderful job done so far, and urged the players to finish what they started.
The Nigeria international made the statement during a telephone conversation with the players on Monday, July 6, and prayed that God would crown the team’s efforts with success.
He encouraged the players to believe in themselves as potential stars and charged them to play with heart.
“Ensure that this money does not come back to me. Go out and claim your promotion,” he said.
He has already transferred the money to the team manager of the club.
Reacting to the kind gesture, Team Manager Itodo Michael Olachene thanked the goalkeeper, adding that with more people like him supporting the team, Kogi United FC would go far in Nigerian football.
Olachene appealed to individuals, stakeholders, politicians, and private and public organizations to rally around the team to ensure its success.
Kogi United FC needs a convincing victory over Mailantarki Care FC to stand a better chance of securing the sole ticket to the Nigeria National League.
