Atuma Campaign: Nwaigwe Mobilises Osisioma Ngwa Women Ahead Of Ward Tour

The Director of Women Affairs of the Emeka Atuma Campaign Council, Chief Mrs Nneoma Nwaigwe, has rallied women leaders and mobilisers in Osisioma Ngwa Local Government Area of Abia State ahead of the planned ward-to-ward campaign tour of the APC senatorial candidate.

Nwaigwe convened a strategic meeting with representatives of various women and support groups, including the Kabila Movement, Atuma Friends International, Grace Movement, Atuma Frontline, market women, non-indigene women, clan women, APC ward women leaders and members of the Osisioma Ngwa Campaign Council.

The meeting was also attended by the Abia Central APC Woman Leader, Hon. Clara Nwaobilor; Osisioma Ngwa APC Woman Leader, Hon. Mrs Mary Chimezie; and the Deputy Woman Leader of the Osisioma Ngwa APC, Hon. Mrs Merit Ihezuo.

Addressing the women, Nwaigwe urged them to intensify mobilisation at the unit and village levels ahead of the proposed ward tour.

She said the campaign council was preparing for Atuma’s direct engagement with communities and party members across Abia Central, adding that the tour would commence with Wards 1 and 4, with two wards expected to be covered each day.

According to her, the engagement would provide an opportunity for the candidate to interact directly with residents and party members across the senatorial district.

Nwaigwe also highlighted Atuma’s relationship with women and said the candidate would pay a special visit to the women as part of the campaign activities.

She urged the women to strengthen their mobilisation structures in preparation for the visit, while challenging Osisioma Ngwa women to surpass the turnout recorded during Atuma’s recent engagement in Isiala Ngwa South.

The campaign official also clarified that the various support structures backing Atuma had not been dissolved but had been brought under a broader campaign arrangement, with each group retaining its identity.

Responding, the Osisioma Ngwa APC Woman Leader, Chimezie, assured the meeting of the readiness of women across the local government to participate in the mobilisation exercise.

She pledged to mobilise women for the ward tour, particularly as the exercise is expected to commence from Ward 1.

Chimezie described Atuma as a leader who, in her assessment, had demonstrated concern for the people through her personal interactions with him.

She also promised to support ward women leaders who might require additional assistance and urged the women to maintain unity while seeking to attract more members to the APC.

The Abia Central Zonal Woman Leader, Nwaobilor, also urged the women to return to their respective wards and intensify mobilisation.

She disclosed that plans were being considered for a door-to-door campaign through which women would engage residents in their communities on the campaign’s message and the APC’s candidates.

Representatives of market women, ward women leaders, structural women leaders and various support groups also spoke at the meeting.

The participants expressed their readiness to mobilise at the ward and polling-unit levels and welcomed the involvement of the different women’s structures in the campaign organisation.

The meeting ended with prayers for the success of the planned ward-to-ward campaign activities.
