The family of 17-year-old Divine Odide is calling for a thorough investigation and accountability following his tragic and suspicious drowning at Merryhome Hotels in Aba, Abia State.

Divine reportedly drowned in the hotel’s swimming pool on June 10, 2025. Speaking to journalists in Umuahia, his father, Mr. Orji Odide, accused the hotel management of attempting to conceal the incident and evade responsibility.

Originally reported at the Glass Police Station near 7Up Road in Aba, the case has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Umuahia. While police investigations are ongoing, the hotel has yet to release an official statement. The Odide family insists that justice must be served and those involved held accountable.
