Manchester City will lock horns with Liverpool in a blockbuster clash after the draw for the quarter-finals of the Emirates FA Cup produced one of the most anticipated fixtures of the competition.
The tie, which pits two Premier League heavyweights against each other, will see Pep Guardiola’s City host Liverpool in what promises to be a high-stakes battle for a place in the semi-finals. Both sides booked their places in the last eight with convincing 3-1 victories in the previous round, City defeating Newcastle United while Liverpool overcame Wolves.
For Liverpool, the FA Cup represents a realistic chance to secure silverware this season, especially with the Premier League title race slipping beyond reach and fierce competition in Europe. The Merseyside club will now have to overcome one of their toughest tests yet against a City side renowned for its dominance in domestic competitions.
Elsewhere in the quarter-final draw, Arsenal will travel to Championship side Southampton at St Mary’s Stadium. The Gunners, record FA Cup winners, will be confident of progressing as they continue their push for another domestic trophy.
Chelsea were handed what appears to be the most favourable tie of the round as they host League One side Port Vale at Stamford Bridge. Port Vale, the lowest-ranked team remaining in the competition, reached the quarter-finals after a stunning upset victory over Sunderland.
The final quarter-final fixture will see West Ham United face Leeds United following the Hammers’ dramatic penalty shootout victory over Brentford in the previous round.
All quarter-final ties of the 2025/26 FA Cup are scheduled to take place over the weekend of April 4–5, with winners advancing to the semi-finals at Wembley Stadium.
