Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has declared that the 2027 governorship election will be “even smoother” for him than his 2023 victory, attributing his confidence to visible accomplishments delivered by his administration over the past 30 months.

Speaking at the 2025 Aro Day celebration in Arochukwu Local Government Area, Otti emphasised that unlike the 2023 campaign, which relied heavily on promises, his potential re-election bid would be anchored on concrete results that residents can “see with their own eyes.”

The governor expressed concern over the early intensity surrounding the 2027 elections, noting that many individuals are already “killing themselves” with stress despite the polls being nearly two years away.

“2027 is still far away, but a lot of people have started killing themselves before 2027 comes,” Otti said. “We are not worried about 2027 because we have a mandate to deliver to our people in four years. We’ve done 30 months, so we still have a long way to go.”

He assured attendees: “Just like it happened in 2023, 2027 will even be smoother, I can assure you. Why am I so confident? I’m confident because in 2023, we were selling promises, but now there are one or two things we can point to.”

Otti’s remarks come amid growing political discussions in Abia, with recent endorsements from local government deputy mayors urging him to seek a second term to sustain ongoing development projects.
