ASEPA Reviews Performance, Sets New Targets at July Management Meeting

The Abia State Environmental Protection Agency (ASEPA) has reaffirmed its commitment to improving environmental sanitation and waste management across the state following its July 2026 Management Meeting and Monthly Departmental Assessment.

The meeting, held on Wednesday at the ASEPA Headquarters in Umuahia, was chaired by the General Manager, Mazi Ogbonnia Okereke, alongside the Deputy General Managers for Aba and Umuahia Zones, Elder Okezie Ezengwa and Catechist Ambrose Jonah.

In attendance were the agency’s directors, deputy directors and heads of departments from all ASEPA operational zones across Abia State.

The session focused on evaluating departmental performance, reviewing operational achievements, identifying challenges and developing strategies to improve service delivery across the agency.

Speaking during the meeting, the General Manager stressed the importance of accountability, teamwork, professionalism and efficiency in delivering on ASEPA’s mandate of maintaining a cleaner, healthier and more sustainable environment throughout Abia State.

He urged all departments to remain committed to the agency’s vision by embracing innovation, improving operational standards and responding promptly to environmental sanitation challenges.

Departmental heads presented reports on their activities, highlighting achievements, ongoing projects and areas requiring improvement. The interactive discussions also provided an opportunity to identify practical solutions to operational bottlenecks while promoting greater collaboration among departments.

Management reiterated that effective waste management requires collective responsibility, continuous monitoring and the dedication of every staff member to achieving the agency’s objectives.

The meeting concluded with renewed commitments to strengthening environmental sanitation initiatives, enhancing waste collection services and supporting the Abia State Government’s efforts to create cleaner and healthier communities across the state.

ASEPA continues to position itself as a key driver of environmental sustainability through improved waste management, public sanitation campaigns and strategic operational reforms aimed at delivering quality services to residents.
