Bandits have attacked the palace of the District Head of Galla in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State, killing the traditional ruler during the assault.

The earlier attack reportedly affected Dekara, Gidan Zana, Masaka and Sabon Gida communities, with an unspecified number of worshippers taken away by the gunmen.
The latest development has further raised concerns about the security situation in Borgu, particularly communities located around the Kainji Lake National Park and the Nigeria-Benin border.

Following the recent abductions, the Nigerian Army deployed troops to Dekara District as part of efforts to rescue the victims and strengthen security operations in the area.
The Army said the area was among the difficult-to-reach locations around the Kainji Lake National Park and had been identified as a mobility corridor for terrorists operating within the forest.
