Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes and Manchester City forward Khadija Shaw have won the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Players of the Year awards.
Both players enjoyed outstanding seasons in 2025-26.
They were also previously named the Football Writers’ Association Men’s and Women’s Footballers of the Year.
Bruno Fernandes Wins PFA Player of the Year
Bruno Fernandes has been rewarded for another excellent season with Manchester United.
The Portugal international broke the record for the most assists in a single Premier League season.
Fernandes finished the campaign with 21 assists, underlining his importance to United’s attack.
He is also the first Manchester United player to win the men’s PFA Player of the Year award since Wayne Rooney in 2010.
The award adds another major individual honour to Fernandes’ career at Old Trafford.
Khadija Shaw Wins Women’s Award
Manchester City forward Khadija Shaw has also been recognised after another outstanding campaign.
The Jamaica international scored 21 goals to win her third consecutive Women’s Super League Golden Boot.
Her goals played a major role in Manchester City’s title-winning season.
Shaw’s latest success also marks her second PFA Player of the Year award in three seasons.
Her consistency has made her one of the most dangerous forwards in women’s football.
Nico O’Reilly Named Young Player of the Year
Manchester City defender Nico O’Reilly has won the PFA Men’s Young Player of the Year award.
The 21-year-old enjoyed a breakthrough season and established himself as a regular starter.
O’Reilly recorded five goals and eight goal involvements in 34 league appearances.
He also helped City keep nine clean sheets during the campaign.
His biggest moment came in the League Cup final against Arsenal.
O’Reilly scored twice and was named Player of the Match as Manchester City lifted the trophy.
Olivia Smith Retains Women’s Award
Arsenal midfielder Olivia Smith has retained the PFA Women’s Young Player of the Year award.
The 22-year-old Canada international becomes only the second player to win the award more than once.
England international Lauren Hemp was the first.
Smith enjoyed an impressive first season with Arsenal after joining from Liverpool for around £1 million.
She scored 10 goals in all competitions during the campaign.

The PFA awards recognise some of the best performers in English football.
This year’s winners enjoyed outstanding seasons for their respective clubs.
Fernandes’ record-breaking assists, Shaw’s goalscoring form, O’Reilly’s breakthrough campaign and Smith’s continued development all earned individual recognition.
The four players have now added another major honour to their impressive 2025-26 campaigns.
