The Chief of Staff to Hon. Lucky Johnson, the Member representing Isuikwuato State Constituency, has resigned following his principal’s decision to leave the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the ruling Labour Party in Abia State.
High Chief Okechukwu Okorie tendered his resignation just hours after Hon. Johnson’s defection. In his resignation letter, Okorie cited political differences as the primary reason for his decision.
Excerpts from his letter:
“Resignation from the Position of Chief of Staff”
“I hope this letter finds you well. It is with a heavy heart that I submit my resignation as your Chief of Staff, effective today, March 25, 2025, due to political differences.”
“Throughout my tenure, I have diligently supported your leadership’s vision and worked towards the development of your office. However, after careful reflection, I have realized that the political direction you have taken does not align with my values and principles as a committed member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). Given my responsibilities as the Chairman of PDP Isuikwuato LGA and the Chairman of all PDP LG Chairmen (CofC), I find it necessary to remain steadfast in my loyalty to the party.”
“While I take pride in the contributions made during my time as your Chief of Staff, my commitment to strengthening the PDP in Abia remains my priority. I am grateful for the opportunity to have served in this capacity and will always value the relationships built along the way.”

“Thank you for your understanding, and I wish you success in your future endeavors.”
High Chief Okechukwu Okorie’s resignation underscores the growing political shifts within the state as the Labour Party continues to consolidate its influence.
