South African Premiership side Chippa United have announced the departure of Nigerian international goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali following his impressive displays for the Super Eagles at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament held in Morocco.

‎Nwabali was one of Nigeria’s standout performers at the biennial competition, playing a key role in the Super Eagles’ campaign.

‎His heroics included saving two penalties in the third-place playoff against Egypt, a performance that helped Nigeria secure the bronze medal.

‎His standout performances at the AFCON, coupled with his contract situation, also sparked speculation about his future at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

‎The Super Eagles goalkeeper’s contract is set to expire this summer, making him eligible to negotiate and sign with any club as a free agent.

‎Nwabali joined Chippa United in 2022 from Nigerian side Katsina United and went on to establish himself as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper.
