Peter Obi officially registers with ADC

Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has predicted that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) may not survive politically if Peter Obi fails to secure the party’s presidential ticket ahead of the 2027 election.

Fayose made the remark while speaking to Channels Television on the sidelines of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Convention in Abuja.

According to him, the fortunes of the ADC are closely tied to Obi, whom he described as a major political force capable of attracting nationwide support.

“If Obi is not on the ballot of ADC, that is the end of ADC,” Fayose said, adding that current developments suggest Obi may not eventually emerge as the party’s flagbearer.

The former governor also raised questions about Obi’s political future, especially amid shifting alliances within opposition ranks ahead of the 2027 elections.

He noted that while Obi played a significant role in the 2023 general election, replicating that momentum under a different political arrangement may prove difficult.

Fayose further dismissed the possibility of Obi returning to the Labour Party, insisting that divisions within the political space make such a move unlikely.

Obi, a former Anambra State governor and key opposition figure, is among those seeking the ADC presidential ticket as political realignments continue ahead of the next election cycle.
