The Federal Government has launched a digital platform that allows Nigerians to report fraudulent activities in housing estates, submit supporting evidence, and track the status of their complaints.
The initiative was announced on Tuesday in a statement issued by the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development (FMHUD). The unveiling also featured live demonstrations by the project’s technical consultants—Messrs Freestone Investments Limited and Messrs Prunedge Development Technologies Limited.
According to the Ministry, the Housing Fraud Reporting Portal—accessible at https://reports.fmhud.gov.ng—offers a secure and user-friendly space for citizens to lodge complaints on fraudulent real estate practices. Reported cases will be jointly reviewed by the Ministry, law enforcement agencies, professional bodies, and the judiciary to ensure offenders are held accountable.
In addition to the fraud portal, the Ministry also introduced the Contract Performance and Compliance Project Monitoring System (CPCPMS), designed to strengthen oversight of housing projects nationwide. The system enables real-time project tracking, evaluates contractor performance, and centralises essential project documents, including payment certificates and Bills of Quantities.
Speaking at the launch, Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Dangiwa, explained that the new platforms align with the 2012 National Housing Policy, which mandates stricter regulation of the real estate sector, proper certification of estate developers, and stronger consumer protection. He stressed that fraudulent practices in housing estates will no longer be tolerated.
Deputy Director and Head of ICT at the Ministry, Dr. Marcus Amiolemen, noted that the fraud reporting portal was developed in collaboration with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to guarantee effective monitoring and follow-up of cases.
Both platforms, he added, underscore the Ministry’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and improved service delivery in Nigeria’s housing sector.
