Siminalayi Fubara has denied widespread speculation that he has dumped the All Progressives Congress for the Nigeria Democratic Congress ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The Rivers State governor clarified his political position during an inspection tour of the newly completed General Hospital and remodelled Neuropsychiatric Hospital in the state.
Fubara insisted that he remains a member of the APC and urged the public to disregard reports and interpretations circulating on social media regarding his alleged defection.
“I am a member of the APC, and nothing has changed,” the governor said while addressing journalists during the tour. He added that his priority remained supporting the overall interest of the party.
Speculation about Fubara’s political future intensified after reports emerged that his brother, Blessing Fubara, had joined the NDC, prompting rumours that the governor and his supporters could follow suit ahead of the 2027 elections.
The governor, however, maintained that the rumours were false and warned against using social media narratives to misrepresent his political stance.
During the visit, Fubara also expressed satisfaction with the completion of the General Hospital and Neuropsychiatric Hospital projects, describing them as critical interventions aimed at improving healthcare delivery for residents in surrounding communities.
According to the governor, the projects became necessary after his administration identified gaps in access to healthcare services within the area, particularly for mental health treatment and emergency medical care.
Fubara said the completion of the facilities reflected his administration’s commitment to delivering projects that directly impact the lives of ordinary people in Rivers State.
