Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has approved a refreshed management board for Kano Pillars Football Club, spotlighting the appointment of former Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa as the club’s General Manager, in a strategic move to strengthen the team ahead of the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) campaign .

The decision announced Friday by Governor Yusuf’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa follows extensive consultations with football stakeholders and concludes the tenure of the previous one-year board. Most members were retained, with strategic new appointments aimed at revitalizing the club .

🔹 Ahmed Musa’s Return: A Boost to the NPFL

Musa, one of Nigeria’s most decorated footballers, rejoined Kano Pillars his boyhood club for the 2024/25 NPFL season, after stints in Europe and Asia . His return significantly raised the club’s profile:
• In his first four matches, Musa scored three goals and provided two assists, including a brace in a thrilling 4–3 win over Enugu Rangers .
• His comeback inspired high-caliber players like Brown Ideye and even current Super Eagles stars like Alex Iwobi and Maduka Okoye to consider playing in the NPFL .
• Musa had already made a memorable return the previous season, netting a brace in a 2–0 victory over Sunshine Stars .

Beyond boosting on-field performance, Musa’s presence has rekindled fan passion and attracted significant attention to the league .
