The Abia State Police Command has announced significant security breakthroughs, including the arrest of key suspects involved in the April 4 murder of two Chinese nationals and a police officer in Isuikwuato LGA. The Commissioner of Police, CP Danladi Isa, made this known during a press briefing held at the Command Headquarters in Umuahia.
Key Highlights (January–June 2025):
• Arrests: 245 suspects (230 male, 15 female)
• Rescued Victims: 9 kidnapped persons and 18 trafficked children
• Firearms Recovered: 26 firearms, including AK-47 rifles, pistols, and locally made weapons
• Other Recoveries: Ammunition, drugs, stolen vehicles, electronics, and vandalized infrastructure

Major Incidents:
1. Murder of Chinese Nationals:
• Suspect: Chisom Chikwendu (35)
• Arrested on May 28, 2025, for the fatal attack on Chinese expatriates in Uturu.
• Currently in prison; others still at large.
2. Kidnapping Operation Foiled:
• Suspects: Chukwudi Onyejwu, Loveday Confidence, Eberechi Gift
• Arrested with a pump-action gun and cartridges; investigation ongoing.
3. Cultism and Illegal Possession of Arms:
• 24 cult members arrested in Ikwuano LGA.
• Weapons and cult paraphernalia recovered.
4. Child Trafficking Bust:
• Suspects: Blessing and Sunday Emebo
• Rescued 12 children from an illegal orphanage in Aba.
• Children handed over to Ministry of Women Affairs.
5. Defilement and Rape Cases:
• Several arrests made for crimes against minors, including one-year-old and teenage victims.
6. Cattle Rustling Arrest:
• 3 suspects caught attempting to steal cows in Umuahia South.
7. Recovery of Arms and Ammunition:
• Firearms recovered from multiple individuals during raids and intelligence-led operations.
8. Drug Raids and Black Spot Clampdowns:
• Arrests made at hotspots in Umuahia and Aba; illicit drugs seized.
9. Vandalism and Theft of Public Infrastructure:
• Multiple suspects apprehended for tampering with government property, including transformers and electric cables.
10. Student Cult Violence at Federal University of Agriculture, Umudike:
• Arrest of cult group leaders involved in supremacy clashes.

CP Danladi Isa reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to public safety and called on citizens to support law enforcement by sharing timely information.
“We remain resolute in our duty to protect lives and property in Abia State,” he stated.

Investigations into the various cases are ongoing, and several suspects have been charged to court.
